- first of all , the taste was so generic i felt like i could have gotten a better cheesesteak at a wawa gas station . secondly they were so incredibly racist , and their signs were so offensive to me ( i ' m white too , so seriously . . . ) i almost wanted to leave immediately , but i stayed for the hype because i was in philly , after all . the dudes cursed at my friends and i and we were all pretty pissed by the time we left . ended up going to pat ' s because at least their service was friendly and a lot less offensive . seriously , just pass this one up . it ' s not worth your time .

- i love sally ' s apizza , it holds a special place in my heart , and i ' m sad the remaining owners are thinking of selling . between frank pepe ' s and sally ' s , i would pick sally ' s every time . now granted , their service isn ' t the fastest or friendliest , and mozzarella is considered an added topping , but their pizza just tastes better . the best part ? - it ' s the thin crispy charred crust that leaves my fingertips black for a while , thats all flavor baby , and i love it haha . i really hope the family keeps the restaurant . new haven pizza just won ' t be the same without them around .

+ ok , first of all who in there right mind would give this place a bad review ? ! ? i get that opinions are like a--holes , everyone has one and they stink , but if you bash corner bistro , you may have to turn in your new york card . this place is a west village institution . this isn ' t the ainsworth - its a old time bar with a great burger . straightforward , inexpensive , and perfect . thank god for places like this , as new york city increasingly becomes duane reades , starbucks , and subways . order a cheeseburger , fries , and a mug of beer and enjoy the banter . if you are looking for a gourmet meal or a tgi fridays , you are in the wrong place . this is a classic . fantastic place

+ the halal cart on broadway is one of the best deals in astoria . although their chicken rice plates can be a little inconsistent at times ( warning - when it ' s slow ) - it ' s usually the most amazing six dollar meal you can find . their falafel is always amazing - and i love the little salad on the side - with the pickled turnips . always always go for the white and red ( hot ) sauce - they go together like peas and carrots . also for a change of pace - the combo plate ( kefta and chicken ) is a great deal and when you are in a carnivorous mood - their beef kebabs are mouth wateringly tender and an amazing addition to your plate for N bucks . as good as it gets for lunch ( or a quick dinner ) in astoria - you can catch me there at least once if not twice a week !
