Hey, I'm the creator of speaches (previously named faster-whisper-server). Here's a snippet from the docs describing the project:

speaches is an OpenAI API-compatible server supporting transcription, translation, and speech generation. For transcription/translation it uses faster-whisper and for text-to-speech piper is used.

I also plan on adding support for Kokoro TTS (https://github.com/speaches-ai/speaches/issues/230), chat audio generation endpoint (https://github.com/speaches-ai/speaches/issues/231), and Realtime API (https://github.com/speaches-ai/speaches/issues/115) in the near future.

Getting a grant and access to better hardware for doing demos and developing the project would be cool. Thanks!
