Elon said a while back that they only release models when the current one is mature take that as you will, maybe we need to wait for 4.20
My guess they may release Grok 3 after some time it will be retired (just like happened with Grok 1 and 2), but currently it is still the default model. Even though chat interface allow to pick Grok 4 instead, it still offers Grok 3 as the default. So, releasing it after 6+ more months makes sense if this is how they determine when to share the weights.
